SHOULD GOVERNMENT PAY FOR ALL DRUGS?

Nowadays, there is a polemic topic with exists not only in Spain, the drugs’ price is very high and a lot of patients can’t them afford. At the moment there are some programs to help people who can’t buy the drugs, but are these programs effective enough or should the government pay all the drugs?

In one hand it’s good that the government pay for all drugs because there are some people who need drugs continuously, so at the end of the month, they mean a lot of money. Moreover, some drugs we could consider more important or necessary, therefore the government should pay for them although these are really expensive.

Nevertheless, all drugs are expensive. Most of us use drugs like ibuprofen or antibiotics too often if we can pass without them, so in the long term a lot of people would buy drugs which are unnecessary, only because they are free and it’s good to have at home. In the society that we live, is impossible to move this type, of program forward because we love free things and we would buy more that we really need.

To sum up, I’m not very much in favour of the idea that government pay all prescription drugs because some people could take advantage of free drugs and there wouldn’t be control of all the drugs that people and it would be impossible to control the demand. Nevertheless, I think it’s good that government help people who need drugs that they can’t afford.
